PM Modi pioneering Jan Bhagidari for Disaster Management

PM Modi has always been a major proponent of Jan Bhagidari and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a prominent example of the same. PM Modi has also pioneered this approach to enable a proactive means of disaster management as well as rural economic empowerment.

Kamal Kishore, Member Secretary, NDMA narrated an incident showcasing how PM Modi pioneered Jan Bhagidari for disaster management promoting rural economic empowerment. He stated that PM Modi has paid significant attention to the issue of forest fires. For the same, PM Modi also suggested that the districts affected by forest fires can be earmarked also elaborating on how the cause of the forest fires can be assessed either as man-made or natural. Further, PM Modi said that the major cause for the forest fires in the hill states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are due to the scattered pine needles. He suggested if these pine needles can be collected and transformed into viable commercial products then this can promote a twin resolution enabling rural economic empowerment and also ensuring Jan Bhagidari in the reduction of the incidents of forest fires.
